Jenny Scheinman, violinist/composer, is a killer player. She has the street musician's trick of getting attention with the pure power of a single, perfect note. The violinist blends gypsy and prog coming up with a very lyrical sound that lacks not for chops. Jazz violin has its glitzy side but the Scheinman Quartet does its best to investigate shimmering realms without getting all shiny - an admirable maneuver.
