...MOJO Music Magazine has described Gloeckner’s sound as “spell-weaving…different, dark, ethereal, funky; an alluring big-sky, small-room mystery.” The new album is an instinct-driven exploration of primal emotion, where minimal lyrics and layers of sound evoke a universal, gut-level knowledge of desire, separation, and the sacred connection of souls. Jen depicts the human condition through sound—raw, dirty, brutal, healing, serene, and holy all at once. Gloeckner draws artistic inspiration from moods and images that she receives in dreams, and listeners discern a mythical, collective-unconsciousness underlying her music —songs that can be as daunting as the darkest nightmares and as redemptive as purest desire. At times Jen comes across as a fearsome seductress—cruelly masculine in her lyrical directness and often aggressive, driving rhythms, then delicate and weak with longing as a Victorian lady taking to her fainting couch. As on Miles Away, Mouth of Mars achieves impressive coherence in the masterful balance of the opposites it embraces. Her self-released debut received significant airplay in the U.S. and Europe and an enormous amount of critical praise which led to its European release through One Little Indian (home to Bjork, Alabama 3, The Shaman and A.R. Kane among others). Eventually other musicians started hearing the record and seeking to collaborate with the bi-racial songstress. In 2006, the since-deceased Hector Zazou (Bjork, Suzanne Vega, John Cale, Jane Birkin, etc.) traveled from France to Jen’s home studio to capture her lead vocals for an ambitious remodeling of the French chestnut “O’Biche Oh Ma Biche.” The following year, Joseph Arthur heard her music on Myspace, struck up a friendship and offered to contribute backing vocals to her then work-in-progress. Record producer, Brian McTear (Apollo Sunshine, BC Camplight, Danielson, Woven Hand, etc.) heard the debut and offered to mix her new material, also introducing Gloeckner to cellist Helena Espvall (Vashti Bunyan, Bert Jansch, Espers), who gladly accepted the offer to play on several songs. Canadian electric violinist Joel Zifkin (Rufus and Martha Wainwright, Emmylou Harris, Townes Van Zandt, Elvis Costello, etc.) also contributed to tracks on the new record.

THE BROTHERS BURN MOUNTAIN
Like the gathering energy of an improvisational musical peak, is the thrill of discovering music and musicians who bring a new and inspirational facet to our world. The Brothers Burn Mountain are that subtle force pushing irresistibly through the jaded soil of the music world and sprouting life in the minds and hearts of those who listen and hear. My journey with The Brothers Burn Mountain began the day they inquired about playing my venue, Terrapin Station, in Nevis, Minnesota. I listened to The Brothers Burn Mountain on MySpace and about 30 minutes later “came up for air”. I absolutely wanted them to play and it became my most anticipated show of the year. Each song was like a small masterpiece…many less than 3 minutes, but perfectly complete. Realizing that they could not duplicate the number of instruments and sounds overdubbed on their studio work, I was very interested to hear them live. I was not disappointed. Their live show features the heart of the song performed with their engagingly deliberate passion. After the show, though rainy and dark, they declined our invitation for over night accommodations, preferring instead to seek a place in the woods to pitch their tents and rejuvenate their spirit.

ANDREW JACOB HOLM
Andrew Jacob Holm grew up in the agri-industrial city of Rockford, IL. His parents were touring musicians and when he was a baby, Odetta bounced him on her knee. In 3rd grade, he stabbed himself in the stomach so he wouldn't have to go to school, and when he was thirteen he built a cabin in Wisconsin and learned to play guitar from imitating his father's LPs. At 19, he canoed the Mississippi River in 95 days and learned subsistence farming and carpentry on a Georgia pecan farm. He rode freight trains in Florida and Alabama seeking the family of guitarist Mississippi John Hurt and became the first white member of an all-black Methodist congregation. "When I'm sitting still," he writes, "I don't feel blessed." Today, Andrew lives in Rockford, IL and tills up the front yard each spring to plant corn and beans. He breaks concrete and builds barns in the same worn-out overalls in which he plays his music. Reap What You Sow is the harvest of these years, a document of the complicated task of living simply. It is the aged and dusty music of ramblers in younger skin, a sound that links past and present -- old music for the new folk, and new music for the old folk.

TIM LOCKMAN
Tim Lockman is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from northern Illinois. His original songs are reminiscent of 1970s balladeers like Gordon Lightfoot, with a contemporary twist. He covers such artists as James Taylor, Neil Young, and the Beatles. As a fingerstyle guitarist, Tim delivers a unique blend of classical, Celtic, sacred and original material. He has drawn inspiration from acoustic guitarists such as Pat Kirtley, Phil Keaggy, Martin Simpson, and Al Pettaway.
Tim has a warm, welcoming stage presence and enjoys interacting with a listening audience. He is equally adept at creating atmosphere for special events with tasteful, ambient guitar instrumentals.
Tim's songwriting is marked by strong imagery; he has a way of capturing a moment, drawing his audience into the stories he tells. His songs embrace the complexities of life with a constant sense of hope.
