Nashville Artist Jefferson Ross Performs at The Frog and The Hummingbird Co & Butterfield's Roadhouse

Jefferson Ross will be performing at The Frog and The Hummingbird Co & Butterfield’s Roadhouse Saturday April 10 2010 at 7:30 to 10 PM with a $7.00 cover.

Nashville Tennessee artist Jefferson Ross is highly gifted with his Vocals and diverse and proficient skills on Bass, Guitar, Mandolin and Harmonica. Jefferson, aspiring to inspire has created an album in Azalea that says I’m a southern boy who loves to travel and experience all the world has to offer, but I’m home where the dogwoods and azaleas bloom. Jefferson 's story driven music hints at who he is, where he's been, and always brings the listener along for an entertaining ride.

Jefferson discovered his first love when a family friend, Charles Bignon, working for the Allman Brothers introduced him to the band. The roadies had a warm up band that would actually play before the opening act and Jefferson sat in with them when he was 13. He played Duane's Les Paul, the one with his name spelled out in the frets on the back of the guitar, which is now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. By 16 Jefferson was touring with various Gospel acts. It was during this time he landed a band position with Jimmy Swaggart. He was told, “You’re hired. Get a passport. We’re leaving for Australia next week.” Although gaining invaluable experience as a stage musician, Jefferson identified himself as a songwriter. He’d been writing songs for his church band so it seemed fitting when Jimmy Swaggart cut “Unworthy of The Blood”. Jefferson states, “When I found out that people actually make money writing songs, that was it for me!”

Jefferson came off the road in 2005 to commit to writing full time and give voice to all these stories. Within a few months he landed a staff writing contract with Curb Publishing and 300 songs later his first studio album, Azalea was debuted.

Jefferson Ross AZALEA Deep Fried Discs 06289 ****1/2
A master singer-songwriter that every single Maverick reader needs to embrace
It still amazes me how seemingly out of nowhere comes a new singer-songwriter with a fresh new sound and approach to making music. Jefferson Ross is a master craftsman at creating country music that tells a story, and most of those stories begin Down South. As a writer he’s in the same league as Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell and Jesse Winchester. As a singer, he’s very much his own man, and as for making records, this debut album puts him in a class of his own. AC

Review from Holland Rootsville.be

Azalea is exquisitely well-balanced, ranging from cheerful and light-hearted to grave and downright philosophical. Jefferson Ross enjoys life and, I think, believes in the modest little things that may sweeten our earthly existence.

Rein van den Berg of Rootsville.be further notes that the album radiates a disarming sincerity and honesty that is usually only found in people who have liberated themselves from grim excessive ballast and prejudice

From Sid Griffin Author of Gram Parsons: A Biography

"Jefferson Ross comes straight outta nowhere but is clearly destined for somewhere with the wonderfully melodic country-folk of 'Azalea', his new CD on Deep Fried Discs. Sonically it's country and features some tee-riff-ic playing, musically it actually has memorable melodies which almost annoyingly remain in the brain, lyrically it is an almost New Age/New Testament take on humanity perfectly in tune with the Obama Era and ultimately it may not make him a dime but will make Mr. Ross proud and possibly a cult artist.
