Jeff Black's debut album Birmingham Road was released on Arista Records to critical acclaim. Recorded at Pedernales Studios in Austin with the help of producer Susan Rogers (David Byrne, T-Bone Burnett) and the diverse contributions of Wilco, Iris Dement and Geggy Tah, Jeff Black's musical reach is as deep and as wide as the company he keeps and the influences he cites, from Tom Waits to Johnny Cash. The Near Misses perform an eclectic blend of originals and covers, drawing upon roots-rock, pop, contemporary folk, country and jazz influences.
