Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is sponsoring a Women’s Day program, "Celebration Education and Healing," on Friday, March 6, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., at its Jefferson Davis Campus in Gulfport. The event is open to the public.
The event’s keynote speaker will be Rhonda Weidner from WLOX-TV, who will speak on "Balancing the Roles of Womanhood." Other lectures and discussions include "Putting a Face on Domestic Violence" and "Men Can Stop the Violence Against Women."
The event is in recognition of International Women's Day on March 8, an occasion marked by women's groups around the world. The day is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday.
