Barron, a musician, composer and arranger who began playing professionally as a teenager, was influenced by Dizzy Gillespie's band and Latin and Caribbean rhythms. Performing as a soloist and part of a group, Barron has made more than 40 recordings, winning nine Grammy Awards and induction into the American Jazz Hall of Fame.
