About the musicians:

Hank Jones (piano) born 1918, Vicksburg, Mississippi; grew up in Pontiac, Michigan; musician brothers Thad and Elvin; worked with Coleman Hawkins, Andy Kirk, Billy Eckstine, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman; CBS staff musician, the Ed Sullivan Show band; conductor and pianist for Broadway?s Ain?t Misbehavin?.

Ray Bryant (piano) born 1931, Philadelphia; worked with Tiny Grimes; house pianist at Philadelphia?s Blue Note Club backing Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Miles Davis; played and/or recorded with Carmen McRae, Coleman Hawkins, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Jo Jones Trio; in ?58 began his own trio. In 1999, inducted into the American Jazz Hall of Fame.

Renee Rosnes (piano) a native of Canada; University of Toronto; came to NY through Canada Council of the Arts grant; performed and toured with Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, J.J. Johnson, James Moody, Jon Faddis; performed and recorded with Bobby Hutcherson, Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra; composer; Rosnes documentary and film for CBC television; Blue Note recordings.

Mulgrew Miller (piano) born 1955, Greenwood, Mississippi; Memphis State University; worked with the Duke Ellington Orchestra led by the late Mercer Ellington, Betty Carter, Woody Shaw, Art Blakey?s Jazz Messengers, Johnny Griffin, Terence Blanchard, one of the founding members of Tony Williams? Quintet, leader of his own trios/quintets, recording for RCA/Novus; composer

Bill Charlap (piano) born 1966, New York City; New York High School of the Performing Arts; worked with Gerry Mulligan, Phil Woods, Benny Carter, Clark Terry, Jim Hall, Al Grey, Red Mitchell, Frank Wess, Milt Hinton, Louie Bellson, Grady Tate, Tony Bennett, Carol Sloane.

Kenny Washington (drums) born 1958, New York; worked with Lee Konitz, Betty Carter, Johnny Griffin, Kenny Burrell, Ron Carter, Frank Wess, Milt Jackson, Bill Charlap, others.

Peter Washington (bass) born in Los Angeles; University of California at Berkeley; played with San Francisco Youth Symphony, John Handy, Bobby Hutcherson, Chris Connor, Art Blakey, Benny Golson, the Mingus Dynasty, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Burrell, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and many others.
