Jazz on Main - Tamburr / Vitchev Project • Vibraphonist & Guitarist August 16, 2010

The Tamburr / Vitchev project was born in 2009 when multi-instrumentalist and virtuoso vibraphonist Christian Tamburr crossed paths with Bulgarian jazz guitarist/composer Hristo Vitchev. Both under 30 years old, and already internationally acclaimed, they joined forces with Santa Cruz bassist Dan Robbins, Latin Grammy nominated pianist Weber Iago, and new to the bay area, Chicago drummer Greg Wyser-Pratte. The group presents unique arrangements on the standards of the great American songbook and inspired original composition by both Vitchev and Tamburr.

The Jazz Mondays on Main series really takes off this year, with Main St. hosting outdoor Jazz concerts every Monday evening from June 21st through August 16th featuring the Bay Area's very best jazz artists. From 6-8pm, enjoy the music, eat at one of the many great restaurants along Main St, and if the mood suits you – DANCE! An all-star lineup will be sure to make for many wonderful Monday evenings on Main St. in Downtown Redwood City’s Historic District.

Along with Jazz on Main, other exciting FREE events include: Dancing on the Square on Tuesdays, Movies on the Square on Thursdays, and Music on the Square on Fridays. Other ongoing events in the coming months include seven special outdoor exhibits featuring Art on the Square, Monday and Wednesday afternoon performances with Lunchtime on the Square, as well as weekend Target Family Days, and Cultural Events.
