The Theodicy Jazz Sextet and Thomas Troger will perform “Blues for Good Friday: Jazz Meditations” accompanying the Good Friday service on Friday, April 2nd at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.
The concert will explore the passion of Good Friday through the paradox of the blues, melodically moving from lamentation to profound joy, and culminating in John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. The service of jazz-infused prayer poses the question: How is it that we can be sorrowful, yet always rejoicing?
Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit www.stjohndivine.org.
