Jazz Ensemble Concert, Civic Arts Education Walnut Creek June 11, 2009

Under the leadership of Mike Rose, reknown jazz musician, “April in Paris,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” Come Fly With Me,” and “Almost Like Being in Love” will be performed by the Jazz Ensemble. The program also includes Charlie Parker’s “Ornithology,” which means the study of birds – Parker’s nickname. “We will have a vocalist to sing these great songs, and we will also be joined by a group of flute students,” says Rose. John Ballou, a dedicated member of CAE’s Jazz Band. By the end of high school, Ballou was composing and arranging for jazz and rock bands and won a trophy for best jazz solo at a festival.
