Dixieland - The Forgotten Root of Jazz
Jazz history begins with the fusion of early New Orleans music forms evolving into what became Dixieland. Stu Johnson will discuss the development of Dixieland jazz, the styles and eras, using PowerPoint slides and recordings of the early pioneers and later examples of the music. A handout will be provided.
