In association with Urban Music Presents, George's will present the best of local, national and international Jazz superstars and we expect the stage to be graced with surprise guest visits from renowned Bay Area Jazz players. George's invites musicians and fans of Jazz to come and participate in what promises to be an incredibly hot Thursday session!
This week Jazz at George's will feature Mindy Canter
An original, soulful, groove oriented and accessible flautist Mindy Canter begun her career at a young age. Classically trained, Mindy's earliest creative influences were blues and jazz, and later, soul, funk, roots, rock n roll….and anything else she could wrap her flute or keyboards around.
At age 19 Mindy performed with Albert King and over the years with Michael Bloomfield, Boz Scaggs, Nick Gravenites, It's A Beautiful Day, Dan Hicks, Ray Obiedo, Roberta Donnay, and Grammy winner Terrence Simien, among many others.
Her latest CD titles "Fluteus Maximus" is a high energy, soulful stew of blues and jazz flute. Original, contemporary, groove oriented flute and vocals mixed and stirred into a hot, cool, hip, soulful, gutsy sound and has received raging reviews.
