George's Nightclub is proud to introduce Jazz at George's! The series began Thursday January 5, 2012 and will happen every first and third Thursday of every month*! In association with Urban Music Presents, George's will present the best of local, national and international Jazz superstars and we expect the stage to be graced with surprise guest visits from renowned Bay Area Jazz players. George's invites musicians and fans of Jazz to come and participate in what promises to be an incredibly hot Thursday session!
This session will be fronted by The Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel, which was formed in 2007 by drummer Brian Andres and carries on the San Francisco Bay Area tradition of world class Latin Jazz. Andres is dedicated to preserving La Combinacion Perfecta - the Perfect Combination, bringing together some of the most proficient musicians in the Latin and Jazz communities of the Bay Area. The Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel performs with one foot standing solidly in the traditions of Afro-Cuban Jazz while the other reaches for the future.
The rhythms of the Caribbean and Africa are meshed with the artistic freedom of improvisation that only North American Jazz can deliver.
It is in this coming together of musical cultures that The Afro Cuban Jazz Cartel Quartet flourishes. The repertoire is a combination of original compositions and classics from Latin America and the United States. The Quartet provides music that is perfect for dancing or listening. If desired, the Quartet can be increased in size to accommodate your special needs.
