Jay's musical career brought him from New York City to California and back to Long Island, where he began to perform and record as a solo artist in 2004. Scott's sound has been called "Americana," "bluesy soul" and "alt country" and is easily recognizable because of his distinctive, slightly gravely vocal style that has drawn comparisons to Bob Seeger, Bruce Springsteen and Joe Cocker. His "groove-inspired band" backs his blues/soul sound.
