Jay Black started life as a high school teacher, where he racked up two local teacher-of-the-year nominations and one nomination for the prestigious Disney award for excellence in teaching. Jay always wanted to try standup, though, and it wasn't long before he took the same high energy act he used in the classroom into the night clubs. On stage, Jay still exudes the cool of every student's favorite teacher. Jay is always friendly and accessible, even when he's pointing out bits about our daily life that usually make us blush. One of the most popular pop/rock groups of the mid-to-late '60s, Tommy James and the Shondells had such memorable hits as 'I Think We're Alone Now,' 'Mony Mony,' 'Crimson and Clover,' 'Hanky Panky,' 'Crystal Blue Persuasion' and more. The group disbanded in 1970, but has been reincarnated for the new millenium.
