Legendary scientist and author Jane Goodall is celebrated worldwide for her pioneering studies of chimpanzees in Gombe National Park, Tanzania, for over 40 years. In 2002 United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan appointed Dr. Goodall to serve as a U.N. Messenger of Peace, while in 2001 she received the third Gandhi/King Award for Nonviolence. A tireless advocate for environmental stewardship, personal action and humanitarianism, Dr. Goodall currently spends much of her time sharing her message of hope for the future and encouraging people everywhere to make a difference in the world.
