Jane Fisher: Under One Sun - Recent Paintings & Drawings
ArtZone 461 Gallery is pleased to present a glimpse into Jane Fisher's recent paintings and drawings of diverse activities that occupy subjects wherever the may be in our Side Gallery. Scenes vary from Philippine and Vietnamese beaches to the annual Kansas City Royal livestock auction.
Inspired by the artist's recent travels, Under One Sun reveal yet another side of figurative painter Jane Fisher. Here, as in most of Fisher's characters or scenes, the viewer is invited to become a voyeur: to observe, perhaps interact. The figures are people in their common routines or in the case of the auction, people performing or being observed. Fisher has provided the players; the narrative is for the viewer to script.
Jane Fisher received her MFA in painting in 1983 from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she also later taught painting. She currently resides in Oakland, CA and is a professor at Diablo Valley College. She has exhibited nationally for over twenty-five years.
Reception for the artist Saturday January 21, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
