Jane Brox, author of three highly acclaimed memoirs, will read in the Creative Writer’s Speaker Series at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on Thursday, April 21.

Brox’s reading begins at 6 p.m. in the college’s Larry and Kathryn Smith Chapel. A reception for her will be held one-half hour prior to the reading; both events are free and open to the public. Parking will be available at the college’s Junker Center.

Brox’s Here and Nowhere Else won the L.L. Winship/PEN New England Award; her Five Thousand Days Like This One was a finalist for the 1999 National Book Critics Circle Award in nonfiction. She also is the author of Clearing Land: Legacies of the American Farm. Her work has appeared in many literary journals and anthologies, including The Best American Essays, The Georgia Review, The Norton Book of Nature Writing, and The Pushcart Prize Anthology. She is a past grant recipient from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Penn State Behrend’s annual Creative Writer’s Speaker Series is produced by the college’s B.F.A. in Creative Writing degree program with support from the Clarence A. and Eugenie Baumann Smith Fund.
