Davis? rich vocals pour over audiences. His panache for traditional swing tunes have turned this Bay Area favorite into an international sensation. However, Davis? music career began long before his arrival to the Bay Area. Davis? musical exposure began at an early age in his father?s Pentecostal Church. He credits his older sister for introducing him to jazz sounds of Milt Jackson, Horace Silver and especially Jimmy Smith and to the ?soul? sounds of Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Al Green and Lou Rawls. He went on to study music at Ohio State University where he gained a strong background in classical music, and then joined the US Army?s Band, Government Issue. His success continued as he toured internationally with his own group and in 2000 joined and toured with the Count Basie Orchestra. Listening samples online at www.jamiedavis.com
