ArtZone 461 Gallery celebrates and sees-in the New Year with a solo show in the Side space for James Edmonds. He was a winner in last year’s “California Realists Competition” and this is his first solo show with ArtZone 461 Gallery.

James Edmonds is a realist tromp l’oeil painter: the French phrase meaning, literally, ‘it fools the eye’. Edmonds follows a long tradition of portraying objects with such extreme detail that they create an illusion of spatial and tactile qualities. The artist remarks, “Observing and humbly interpreting life around me has helped me to create images that stand apart from the ordinary. The goal of my work is to bring a classical set of skills to a present context.”

Edmonds received his BFA from the Savannah (Georgia) College of Art and Design, Summa Cum Laude in 2006. Following graduation he studied privately at the Safehouse Atelier in San Francisco through 2008. Edmonds paints in a studio area of his San Francisco apartment and continues to take painting lessons to this day. ArtZone is delighted to present his first solo show in San Francisco.
