Edme Marie Paul Jacoulet was born in Paris in 1902 and transported to Japan in 1906. A self-taught artist, he was the first foreigner to become a master of the ukiyo-e (pictures of the floating world). He was the first print artist to use ukiyo-e beyond outside of Japan. This exhibit features many of his woodblock prints.
