Jack Straw Productions presents an evening of sublime acoustic music featuring classical Chinese musician Wu Ziying and medieval fiddler Shulamit Kleinerman with guests Michael Connolly and Ruthie Dornfeld. This event is part of the Jack Straw Artist Showcase series which presents concerts featuring recipients of Jack Straw Artist Residencies.

Wu Ziying is a master of the guqin (Chinese seven-string zither). He studied with the 20th-century’s foremost Chinese masters of these instruments. He performs on a guqin crafted some time during the 12th or 13th century called the “Perfectly Harmonized Jade and Pearl Qin.” It is an instrument renowned for its sweet, yet sonorous tone. Shulamit Kleinerman and her guests Michael Connoly and Ruthie Dornfeld will be playing medieval tunes (12th-14th centuries) that come from manuscripts from Paris, Prague, and Toledo (Spain). They will perform on the vielle, a medieval fiddle.
