Portland Art Institute in the Culinary Arts building
722 Northwest Couch Street, Portland, OR - Room number is CUL302
6 pm – 10 pm (thereabouts)
Join us (Barbara Holmes and Jeanne Turner) your fearless IxDA co-leaders as we guest lecture for the Art Institute! We’re taking on equally fearless information design students and discussing a few aspects about how your brain works, and how we as designers toy with how your brain works. Specifically and scientifically, Barbara will cover the principles behind short-term memory processing and cognitive load. Jeanne will then flip the rules on their ass as she shares how these same principles are harnessed to provide whimsy and delight in the best iPhone and iPad apps. Join us for a fun, interactive session. And be prepared to share your insights with students eager to hear from working pros like you.
Please be prompt. The doors to this building are locked and entry is controlled. Because this is a class, we need to start on time to respect the student’s time and investment. Unlike typical IxDA meetups, we cannot handle refreshments in this venue. And, we don’t know the room capacity, so be patient if it’s crowded. Here’s the timeline we’re aiming for:
6 – 7 Barbara
7 – 8 Jeanne
8 Q&A and discussion
8:30 adjourn (to a local restaurant/bar tbd) for further discussion.
Hope you can join us!
