You are invited to our September event. We are pleased to host presentations from two members of our local interaction design community.
First, Elena Moon will give a fireside chat about mentoring:
"Two years ago Jos Vaught, an itinerant English teacher, was passing back through Portland and wanted a career change. Elena Moon, a grizzled UX veteran, wanted to pass along her hard-won knowledge before she died. One day, Jos asked Elena, 'What exactly is it you do again?' A formal, two-year UX apprenticeship ensued. Join Elena as she shares tales of guiding Jos from a baby-bird designer to a soaring interaction eagle, capable of leading projects for direct clients and Portland's top agencies."
For the second part of the evening, Jeremy Pair will give a presentation on creating an effective portfolio:
"What does a good UX/UI portfolio look like and how can you safely show work that's under an NDA? Before coming a UX/Content Strategist, Jeremy Pair was a recruiter in the interactive design world. He'll share some of the best ways to show your work to recruiters and employers, as well as sharing tips on how to find work in Portland".
