It's Your Money is a fun, afternoon event for college graduates and soon-to-be grads to learn real world personal finance skills. Whether you’re getting ready for the job market, already have a job or are just concerned about your financial future, you’ll gain hands-on strategies for a climate where mistakes and inaction are riskier than ever. At the end of this highly interactive event you will:

• Learn surprisingly simple ways to build a personal financial safety net
• Develop a step-by-step, practical budget with room for fun without the guilt
• Learn how to avoid common, costly new grad mistakes
• Benefit from lessons learned by other recent grads who have dramatically increased and protected their savings
• Understand how simple decisions have a big impact on your ability to spend and save
• Gain real-world skills for building a long-term “nest egg” that you can count on

If you're graduating soon, or have been out in the “real world” for awhile, this event will take the mystery out of building a secure financial future that matches your own strengths and needs.

Speakers include:

Marc Hedlund - Marc Hedlund is co-founder and CEO of Wesabe, a personal finance web community designed to help people better understand their spending and to foster a community dedicated to helping each other get the most from our money.

Stephen Mullholland - Stephen Mulholland is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is known for helping people understand investing; he breaks it down and makes it simple. From 401(k)s to investment insurance options, he shares expert knowledge that makes managing your own financial portfolio understandable and easy. Stephen also applies his finance expertise at the James Irvine foundation (>$1b) where he is responsible for the selection, evaluation and monitoring of the Foundation's investment managers, investment opportunities and portfolio.

Julia Houck-Whitaker - I tripled my savings after one year of tracking and managing my personal finances. I realized that at the time I finished college, while I had gained a lot of knowledge, I hadn't learned much about what it meant to be financially responsible. In 2008 it became clear that change was needed. I made a New Year's resolution last year to track expenses and in a year, I tripled my savings.

It’s Your Money is a hands-on educational event. There will be no selling or promoting of financial services. The $15 registration fee is to cover the cost of the venue, we're not making bucks on this one. Registration increases to $18 on 3/7.
