In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Karrie Ross, Michelle Ferrera, and Rachel Partiali, are featured at Very Venice Art and Design Gallery. These Los Angeles based fine artists each offer a different aspect of breast awareness for this exhibition. Through their unique expressions, they each depict their journeys to health and healing. A percentage of their proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Inc. This exhibition runs until October 13th.
Karrie Ross, Los Angeles fine artist. Ross’ Spiral Series: Bustiers were created to continue the conversations she has with her breasts chatter and attitude…from their back, interior dialogue, to the front, visual imagery that is shown to the world. This is an ongoing cathartic experience for her as it brings her closer to her body in a new and special way…which has inspired a whole series of books that she is writing in the http://www.TheLifeDialogue.com series of which My Breasts Talking™ is the first, guiding her to a greater awareness of what makes us who we are. The “coming alive from the inside out.” Karrie Ross is a Los Angeles based fine artist who paints, draws, and sculpts art that fulfills the need for energy transformation.
Michelle D. Ferrera
These self portraits are my life, my truth broken down into simple tools; raw wood and a #2 pencil. The progression in how I care and tend to these materials and the depth for detail is a reflection of my life experiences. This yearning to create my understanding of each curve of my own body is deeply rooted to having been affected and challenged by Breast Cancer early in life. Using simple tools allows me an atmosphere devoid of distractions where truth creates awareness, communication and strength to move forward into the future.
Rachel Partiali- “Unconditional Love” The tenderness of a mother’s love brings a sense of safety to a child who is brought into a world foreign to her. As a mother inhales her child’s scent and holds her close to her body, the child knows that she is part of her mother, yet safe enough to be her own person. This experience of Unconditional Love is the cornerstone for the relationships we create throughout our lives. We return to this experience of unconditional love as we connect to our most intimate relationships, often with others, or even with ourselves. I was inspired to paint this portrait to portray my experience of love and connection. This process proved to be healing, as I was able to connect to my most intimate relationship; my inner child.
