The IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a framework of Good Practices used for the delivery and management of quality IT Services. ITIL is comprised of five core volumes providing guidance in the following areas: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement. The goal is the alignment of IT service providers to the business/customer(s) they support.
Why is ITIL important?
In the ever increasing competitive market place, IT service providers must understand and partner with the business in order to deliver quality services that support the business outcomes and add strategic value. The processes in the ITIL framework allow service providers, of all types, guidance for delivering quality services in a cost effective and efficient manner.
