Italian Embassy Celebrates 150 Years of Unification and Unity and Diversity in Italian Art with Unique Exhibition October 5-30, 2011

In celebration of Italy’s sesquicentennial, from October 5-30, the Embassy of Italy will host “Regions and Testimonials,” showcasing the diversity yet unity of Italian art in the nation’s 20 regions. Each region will be represented by its most important contemporary artist.

Historical and promotional videos, archeological artifacts, and exhibits by major Italian companies complement the art in this complex and fascinating presentation. Italy’s Risorgimento, or 19th century fight for independence, ended in 1861 with unification.

The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM in the embassy’s Piazza Italia.
