Islam has constituted a significant political identity and has played a formidable role in global politics throughout history. This course brings together the past and the present of Islamic world, and analyses various Islamic societies, their differences and similarities: Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, and Iran are examined in terms of their specific political developments as Islamic nations. The class will discuss current political issues as well as give a good insight into history of Islam. It is an in-depth study of the development of political Islam.
