Isis is a Los Angeles, California-based band, commonly labeled doom metal, avant garde, post-metal, post-rock and experimental among many others. They have borrowed from and helped to evolve a sound pioneered by the likes of Neurosis and Godflesh, creating heavy music consisting of lengthy songs that focus on repetition and evolution of structure.
Jesu is an experimental/drone doom/post-metal band formed in 2003 by Justin Broadrick following the breakup of Godflesh. Jesu was the name of the last song on the final Godflesh release, 'Hymns' and Broadrick decided to adopt it as the name of his new project.
Zozobra ("Old Man Gloom") is the name of a giant marionette effigy that is burned every autumn during Fiestas de Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico, usually during the second week of September.
