Is Self Hypnosis Effective?

Many of us may not of have heard of self hypnosis, and some may not even know what hypnosis is. In brief, hypnosis is a great way to get your brain and your subconscious mind to work in a particular direction. It is no magic or voodoo, but a well defined science that is tried and tested to be very effective.

There are a number of things that hypnosis can do to your life. In short, it can help you achieve everything that you once felt was not achievable and that may seem to be impossible. For example, you can use hypnosis to help lose weight, quit smoking, improve relationships, and even fight diseases at times.

So What Is Self Hypnosis?

Now hypnosis consists of an expert or a professional in hypnotherapy hypnotizing you so that they can interact with your subconscious mind and change things towards the positive. The expert whom you are consulting on this matter is the person who will eventually “program” your subconscious mind to make it help you achieve the things that you thought were not possible for you.

Self hypnosis, on the other hand, is more related to you yourself doing the job. You hypnotize yourself and then program your mind to help you achieve those targets that are so important to you, and yet seem to be so distant. So how do you do this? And will it prove to be as effective as the normal procedure where an expert is actually working towards getting you closer to your targets?

A Glimpse of the Procedure

Self hypnosis comprises of taking yourself into a state of trance where your conscious mind goes into the background and your subconscious mind takes over. Now this is not as easy as it sounds, and may require a good bit of practice for you to get there. If you are good with meditation, half of the job is done for you.

So let’s start with meditation, which will in turn take you to a state of mind where you can actually feel that you are in a trance. Your body seems to numb out somewhat, and your mind feels lighter and more focused. Now is the time to use the self hypnosis scripts to program your mind to help you get to your targets.

For example, if you are after losing weight, keep a script ready like “I will lose 2 pounds by the end of this month” or something similar. Use this script once you reach that state of trance, and repeat it slowly while picturing yourself thinner and fitter. Carry on with this everyday till you are satisfied with the results.
