30 years ago this year saw the publication of the chess hacker's bible, "Chess For Tigers". Simon Webb's innovation was to write for ordinary chess players, urging them to Swindle, Hack, and Barrage their way to chess success - to try to win by any means possible!
But does this still work for chess as played in the 21st century? Basically, is Chess still for Tigers?
At the start of the new season, Nick Pelling of Surbiton Chess Club presents a light-hearted 1-hour talk on the Chess For Tigers legacy, followed by a themed "Chess For Tigers" simultaneous display. Whether you are a Rabbit, Tiger or Heffalump, come along and enjoy the evening!
Note: doors open at 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start.
