Irvington High School’s Center for the Creative Arts, in conjunction with Ohlone College, is pleased to announce its spring musical production of Elton John and Tim Rice’s soft-rock musical Aida. This timeless love story is an adaptation of Giuseppe Verdi’s majestic opera of the same name, updated in the modern pop style and formula of a Disney musical through the collaboration of the songwriting team of Elton John and Tim Rice. Where two star-crossed lovers struggle against palace intrigue, treason, and conflicting loyalties to overcome the cultural differences that threaten to separate them forever. The entire show is a beautiful vocal masterpiece.
The 2010 musical will showcase forty-two actors/dancers/chorus, twenty-two musicians (conducted by Charlie Rodda) and fifteen production crew members. Every high school in Fremont is represented in our FUSD Arts Magnet production of Aida. This show is under the direction of Linda Jackson-Whitmore, with vocal direction by Daina Joly, choreography by Lauren Benjamin, costume designers Elizabeth Whitaker and Evan Boomer, and set designers Fred Alim and Beth Zeigler.
