Iredell Health System Recognizes Prostate Awareness Month with Free Cancer Screenings September 3, 2009

In recognition of Prostate Awareness Month, Iredell Health System’s Community Wellness Department will be providing community screenings for prostate cancer on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 11:00-1:00pm at the Barium Springs YMCA.

Preceded only by skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer afflicting the male population and the second leading cause of cancer death in men. Unfortunately, signs and symptoms may not show up until the disease has progressed, stressing the importance of early detection.

In addition to prostate specific antigen (PSA) screenings, free blood pressure checks will be offered and colorectal kits made available.
