The 2003-invasion of Iraq by a coalition of American, British and Australian military forces, among others, marked a watershed in the contemporary history of Iraq. This course is an insight into contemporary Iraqi society: civil war, religious cleavages, oil diplomacy, and a ground for regional rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Moreover, domestic political rivalry, the Kurdish question, and the impact of Western powers on the domestic situation will be discussed. Details of this event may be subject to change.
