Through mini lectures, in-depth demonstrations and hands-on shooting experiences, students will learn the techniques and skills required to work with large format cameras. We'll explore how camera movements affect perspective control; how to focus the view camera; and how to use meter for accurate exposures. Students will be encouraged to think about ways to advance their individual aesthetic and conceptual goals.
We'll also discuss practical matters that arise when using the view camera in real-world situations, such as transportation and storage of equi pment, camera and lens choices, and how to work with sheet film.
In the darkroom, we'll process our large format film, producing silver contact prints and enlargements from our negatives.
