For our first February meeting, Phoenix Objectivists will listen to part 2 of a 6 part pre-recorded lecture series that was part of The Atlas Society's line up of topics for their 2006 Summer Seminar.
This two lecture series will serve as an introduction to cognitive science.
The talks given by Dr. Jay Friedenberg, Ph.D. will outline the new interdisciplinary scientific study of the mind.
Cognitive science encompasses a broad array of different perspectives including philosophy, psychology, cognition, neuroscience, evolution, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Although these disciplines have different methodologies and theoretical orientations, they are united in their goal to understand the mystery of the mind.
Dr. Jay Friedenberg, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at Manhattan College. He has recently coauthored an undergraduate textbook in cognitive science.
Running time for the CD is around 70 minutes. After we are finished listening, a discussion will be held on the points brought up in the speech.
