The Inti Raymi ("Festival of the Sun") was a religious ceremony of the Inca Empire in honor of the god Inti. It also marked the winter solstice and a new year in the Andes of the Southern Hemisphere. This month long celebration is celebrated today across the Andean region and by the indigenous peoples of the region in the diaspora. Traditional Andean music by Peruvian group Inti Raymi and Ecuadoran group Grupo Umbral plus the Peruvian folkloric group Yachay Wasi Peru celebrate Inti Raymi from the stage of the Old Town School.
