World-famous pianist Inna Faliks will return to Denver on May 16 and 17 for two performances of in the season finale concerts of the Augustana Arts 2008-09 Concert Series. Co sponsored by Pro Musica and Augustana Arts; Ms. Faliks will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto, No. 1 in g minor with the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra.
Ms. Faliks will join the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Catherine Sailer, and the Kim Robards Dance Company for two concerts of classical music and dance on Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2100 Wadsworth Blvd., in Lakewood and Sunday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Avenue, in Denver.
In addition to the Mendelssohn Concerto, the program includes Tan Dun’s Circle for Four Trios, Conductor, and Audience, with a dance performance by Kim Robards Dance Company, and Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra performing St. Paul Suite by Gustav Holst.
Young American pianist Inna Faliks has been described by critics as "riveting, passionate, warmly poetic, infusing every note with personality." Most recently the recipient of the coveted 2005 Pro Musica International Award in NY and Grand Prize winner of the 2005 St. Charles International Piano Competition, Ms. Faliks gave her debut with the Chicago Symphony at age 15 playing Tchaikovsky’s Concerto # 1, her Carnegie Hall debut in 2000, and has performed numerous recitals and concerti in prestigious venues in the US as well as in France, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, and Japan. Recent performances include a tour of Russia, concerti with the Concert Artists of Baltimore, a recital in Weill/Carnegie Hall, NY, appearances in Bonn, Germany, a performance in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Saturday, May 16 performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2100 Wadsworth Blvd., in Lakewood. Sunday’s performance is at 3:00 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Avenue, in Denver.
