International Congress for Conservation Biology (23rd Annual Meeting of the Society for Conservation Biology) July 10, 2009

The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of conserving the Earth's biological diversity. The Society's membership comprises a wide range of people interested in the conservation and study of biological diversity: resource managers, educators, government and private conservation workers, and students. The Society is a global community with more than 12,000 members world-wide and representatives from over 140 countries.

SCB Annual Meetings are a forum for addressing conservation challenges. They are the global venue for presenting and discussing new research and developments in conservation science and practice.The 23rd Annual Meeting with take place in China in 2009. Plenary sessions are presented by conservation leaders and visionaries - speakers have included Richard Cowling, Gustavo Fonseca, Jeremy Jackson, Jane Lubchenco, Sir Robert May, and Michael Soulé, just to name a few. The meeting theme this year will be :Conservation: Harmony for Nature and Society, exploring nature and society, diversity and mankind of which the connections are critical for achieving the goals of conservation.
