The International Comic Arts Forum is an annual academic conference dedicated to promoting the study and appreciation of comic art, including comic strips, comic books, comic albums and graphic novels, magazine and newspaper cartooning, caricature, and comics in electronic media.

As a comic author, Max has produced more than twenty books and collections since the early 1980’s. Max is well-known for his graphic work as an illustrator, producing many posters, book and record covers, illustrations for children’s books and magazines, editorial work, and animation clips for rock bands.

As a cartoonist and illustrator, Pere Joan's work has appeared since the 1980's in various and diverse publications across the field of comics, as well as in newspapers, children's books, and periodicals. His visual style embraces traditional ligne clair ("clear line") characteristics layered with a surrealist sensibility.
