The History and Political Science Department at Chestnut Hill College will host an interdisciplinary conference on "The Legacy of the Civil War," November 10-12, 2011 at the Commonwealth Chateau at SugarLoaf. The two-day conference will include panel discussions as well as theatre performances and cinema that pertain to the historical legacy of the Civil War. Plenary speakers include Michael Burlingame, Ph.D., the Chancellor Naomi B. Lynn Distinguished Chair in Lincoln Studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield, and Elizabeth R. Varon, professor of history at the University of Virginia and a specialist in the Civil War era and the 19th-century South.
