Focusing on the interactive software MaxMSPJitter, this workshop is geared to expose dance artists and performers to digital real-time processing, its application and issues for the creation and design of interactive performance and installation environments where movement and embodied actions of the performers and visitiors are fundamental. This is a hands-on workshop to get participants familiar with the Jitter object system (video), subjects such as real-time video playback, signal-processing for video, live video tracking, audio-visual interaction, and the use of wireless game controllers as an alternative interface will be explored. Participants are expected to have basic experience with digital video processing.
Topics per Session:
-Introduction to performance of movement and interactivity/Intro to Jitter (video clips play back, live video, mixing and filters (math operations), keyboard and mouse interaction.
-A matrix, is a matrix is a matrix is a matrix.(2D manipulations and matrix analisis, motion in the matrix, animated video)
-Video tracking fundamentals in Jitter (software and hardware issues), computer vision.
-Wearables interfaces and physical sensors (USB devices and game controllers as alternative interfaces)
Fully operational pre-designed applications in MaxMSPJitter (patches), bibliography and relevant links will be provided.
Private seesions for tutorial are available.
