Drawings and Prints
George Goldner, Drue Heinz Chairman
Nadine Orenstein, Curator
Among the largest curatorial departments in the Metropolitan Museum, Drawings and Prints is home to a surprising variety of works on paper, from Honus Wagner’s baseball card to Michelangelo’s drawing of the Libyan Sybil to works by Leonardo, Dürer, Rembrandt, Goya, and Seurat. George Goldner and Nadine Orenstein will discuss the evolution of this fascinating and wide-ranging department. Following a brief historical review, Goldner will present a detailed summary of the development of the drawings collection, and Orenstein will outline the formation of the collection of prints and illustrated books.
