Hi everyone!
We hope that you all had a great summer and now preparing for another wonderful school year!
Well it is that time again! Permias SFBA is proudly to present another cultural event! This year we have decided to rename Exadani to Indonesian Cultural Affair.
With the support from the Consulate General of Indonesia of San Francisco and our media sponsor the AsianWeek Foundation, our theme for 2011 is "The Java Experience" where you can experience the essence of Java in the City by the Bay!
Most cultural events usually go down by starting out with an exhibition as an appetizer and the main course is served up blandly by sitting down watching performances with no interaction.
We've cooked up something fresh and new for The Java Experience as our rendition of a "cultural night event" will entice and invoke all your senses as if you took a trip across the Pacific to our home.
We will be attempting to reenact a "Pasar Malam" or Indonesian night market not outside but indoors!
With 2 performance stages set up in the middle of the event hall as and booths or "warung" specializing a piece of the Indonesian culture in Java surround the stages, we hope that we are able to create that INTERACTION that is usually lacking in Culture Night Events.
For those who have been to Indonesia, the smell of Javanese coffee and the subtle yet relaxing sound of gamelan will hopefully take you back to paradise. But we are sure that our street musicians, who will come up to you while you explore our event, will be the ones who will make you feel like you are roaming through the streets of Jakarta!
Our new friends who are taking their first step to experiencing Indonesian culture, we hope that you can get a glimpse of the beauty and diversity of our culture through our unique blends of spices in our cuisine as well as the artistry in our clothing that defines the Indonesian heritage.
We understand that money is an issue these days so we have brought Java to you! One night to travel through 6 provinces sampling the best of what the island of Java has to offer without ever leaving the US soil or applying mosquito repellent!
