What does it take to realize the dream of making a movie - to learn the craft, attain financing, manage a production, and get meaningful distribution? And do it in your own back yard? Find out by coming to the screening of ‘The Prankster,’ an independently produced teen comedy, shot entirely in Marin. The upcoming screening at the Lark is the first and only public screening of the movie before it is released on DVD on September 28 through Strand Releasing.
The Prankster screens one time only at the Lark Theater, on Sunday, September 12, at 7pm. Appearing with the movie is its writer, director, and producer, Tony Vidal, a longtime resident of Larkspur, and 1970 graduate of San Rafael High School, where much of the movie was shot. Tony will talk about the process of filmmaking and introduce the movie along with several of the film’s local actors. The cast of the film includes well known character actors such as Kurt Fuller, Michaela Watkins, and Ken Davitian, teen stars Devon Werkheiser, Maiara Walsh, Robert Adamson, Jareb Dauplaise, Kunal Sharma, and Madison Riley, and talented newcomers Matt Angel and Veronica Sixtos.
Mr. Vidal is a graduate of USC Cinema and a veteran of the studio system. For many years he has been devoted to independent film, co-writing Her Best Move (also shot in Marin) and then forming Prankster Entertainment, whose aim is to make movies that entertain and enlighten
