Independence Day Celebration July 4, 2009

Come with family and friends to experience Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest come alive with patriotism! Independence Day at Poplar Forest is a perennial favorite for individuals and families throughout Virginia. In 2009, the celebration will feature music, dance, living history interpreters, historic craft demonstrations (potters, weavers, and soap-making), storytelling, interactive children’s games and much more.

The festivities will culminate in Poplar Forest’s signature July 4th event: a fife and drum parade, followed by the stirring reading of the Declaration of Independence from Jefferson’s porch.
