It’s Inauguration week, and on this historical occasion we could not resist serving up some American wines matched with a great American cheese to celebrate the monumental event. We chose the theme Red, White, and Blue for obvious reasons, so we bring you a great Red from Napa alongside a fabulous White from that same tasty valley paired with a delicious, creamy Oregon Blue. What better way to celebrate this quintessential American moment than with three American classics?
It’s great to be an American, especially during this peaceful passing of the baton of power that symbolizes one of the greatest achievements of a democracy. This Inauguration in particular, for so many reasons, captures the imagination, hopes, and dreams of the entire United States of America. As we come together as a nation and lift our eyes to witness a new day dawning in this country, a day that has so much historical significance, filled with so much promise, let us also lift a glass and toast to our new President and wish him well. And while you’re at it, lift a piece of yummy cheese as well.
This is such an auspicious event that we wanted to witness it on television with lots of friends. To that end we would like to invite you to Oxbow Wine Merchant to join us for the festivities at 9am on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 and watch the Inauguration of Barack Obama. We will be showing it on our big screen TV all day, but if you want to watch it live from DC on that special morning we will be there with some delectable treats. You can order breakfast from our kitchen; the Oxbow Public Market has several shops that offer pastries, coffee, and tea for something lighter. If you are like us and want to nibble on some cheese for your morning meal, the Oxbow Cheese Merchant will be open to make that option available too. On top of that, at 10:30am, Ryan Hill and John Truchard, from the two featured wineries will be on hand to pour and discuss their respective wines that are expertly matched with the Crater Lake Blue Cheese. That flight will be available all day.
