Amazon Web Services (AWS) has the biggest Infrastructure and Platform-as-a-Service market share. As part of its continual product improvement philosophy, Amazon offers an ever-expanding variety of cloud-based storage selections, including:
* Simple Storage Service (S3)
* Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instance storage
* Elastic Block Store (EBS) volumes
* SimpleDB
* Relational Database Service (RDS)
While these alternatives furnish a broad range of options to architects and developers, the sheer number of choices can sometimes be confusing when it comes to selecting the optimal storage solution.
Our goal is to help you understand all of the cloud-based information storage options available in AWS. We'll begin by presenting a multi-faceted exploration of each storage solution, including describing ideal usage scenarios. We'll pay particular attention to identifying which choices provide durable storage, and which don't. To support our recommendations, we'll then present a number of use cases that you can employ as guidance when designing your own storage architecture.
This will be a remote session and Robert Schneider will present via skype.
