Join 142 Throckmorton Theatre for a staged reading of a new play by Playwrights' Lab member Lynne Kaufman, IMMORTALITY. A pair of brilliant women scientists discover an amazing new enzyme that can prevent aging and cure cancer, but a biotech entrepreneur's offer to develop the drug commercially ignites a fiery battle between the two friends. Cast members (all Actors Equity Union) include Arwen Anderson, Anne Darragh and Mark Rafael Truitt. The Playwrights' Lab is the new-plays-development arm of 142 Throckmorton Theatre and includes a dozen Bay Area playwrights who meet regularly to discuss and critique one another's work.
Lynne Kaufman has had 15 full length plays premiered in such theatres as The Abingdon in N.Y.C., Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Magic Theatre in S.F. Theatreworks in Palo Alto, The Fountain Theatre in L.A. and Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota. Her plays have won numerous awards including The NEA/Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays, The Glickman Award for Best New Play in S.F., Theatreworks Award for Best New Play in California, Audrey Skirball-Kennis Inside the Ford Development Fund. Her plays have been published by Dramatists Play Service, Dramatic Publishing and Smith and Krause. She has also published three novels and many short stories. She is a long time member of the Playwrights Lab at The Throckmorton Theatre.
